Synthesis and characterization of structural metal matrix composite using agricultural waste targeting for environmental sustainability

Abstract Coconut shell is one of the major agricultural wastes like rice husk, corn hub, groundnut etc., which can be found in abundance various countries those have significant potential sector. In recent times, it has been that these kind are effectively utilized by recycling them targeting for engineering and scientific applications turn to achieve environmental sustainability. present study, mechanical behavior aluminum hybrid metal matrix composites reinforced with coconut ash (CSA) silicon carbide investigated. The composite specimens fabricated stir casting technique under normal atmospheric conditions different weight fractions reinforcements. as cast heated 500°C maintained four hours followed cooling subsequent aging at 170°C two hours. Microstructural examination confirmed uniform distribution reinforcements grain boundaries no agglomeration. Properties such mass density, hardness, ultimate tensile strength computed order appraise behaviour composites. results revealed fact that, increasing quantity CSA reinforcing phase, increased hardness decreased. On other side, percentage elongation improved marginally stiffness Inclusion offered influence on Al-SiC-CSA To some extent, AA 6061/CSA competes 6061/SiC p rather than because lack both chemical structural affinity between
